Career Achievements

• Early Career and Global Experience: Ryan began his professional journey with a leading global firm in the welded construction of pressure vessels and LNG storage tanks. His rigorous engineering training took him across Canada, the United States, and South Africa, where he advanced through roles of increasing responsibility as a welding engineer, district welding engineer, and corporate welding procedure development R&D in Chicago, IL. This exposure working with numerous national and international energy companies equipped him with a deep understanding of diverse welding, NDE, and quality requirements across different product lines, services, and regions.

• Major Projects and Leadership: Ryan’s role as Project Welding and Quality Manager for the Kearl Lake Oil Sands Project marked a significant achievement in his career. This was the largest project undertaken by the Canadian division ($1B), showcasing the trust in his ability to manage complex welding and quality challenges on a large scale early on. Subsequently, as Corporate Quality Manager with the largest regional fabricator in Vancouver’s lower mainland, Ryan oversaw projects involving modular piping assemblies, including the substantial Surmont 2 project for ConocoPhillips.

• Innovation in EPC and Nuclear Sectors: At a leading global EPC company in Houston, Ryan served as Welding & Quality Manager for the Tanks Business Line, a $2B business line. Here, he played a pivotal role in establishing a new business line focused on self-performing pressure vessel and LNG storage tank projects globally. His work included developing a comprehensive welding and quality program, established processes and procedures for each functional department, engineering, procurement, operations. Notable projects under his leadership included the Curtis Island Program ($30B) in Queensland, Australia, and the Corpus Christi LNG Phase 1 in Texas.

• Nuclear Industry Leadership: In 2019, Ryan transitioned to the nuclear industry as a Site Quality Assurance Manager for OPG’s Darlington Nuclear Refurbishment project, a $13B initiative. This role allowed him to further expand and contribute significantly to the global nuclear renaissance and clean energy transition, applying his extensive experience to one of Canada’s largest energy infrastructure projects.
